Most organisations have installed SharePoint, at the very least to investigate its powerful feature set. Many organisations have found SharePoint to be a capable tool that can be applied successfully to a range of enterprise functions and a lot of of these organisations are now running older versions of SharePoint such as 2003 and 2007.

The latest version of SharePoint Server, 2010, delivers more features and offers a major overhaul in capability, ease of use, ease of administration, and ease of integration compared to the 2007 version. However SharePoint is a complex product and despite the ease of use benefits, upgrading from earlier versions to 2010 is known to be problematic.
